What is KETAMINE?
KETAMINE is a general anesthetic that also has analgesic and antidepressant properties.

 

What are the side effects of KETAMINE?

  • Temporary augmentation of the pulse rate and blood pressure

  • Arrhythmias

  • Bradycardia

  • Hypotension

  • Respiratory depression (in a small percentage of patients)

  • Vivid Dreams

  • Hallucinations

  • Increased salivation may occur

  • Blurred vision

  • Nausea (rare)

  • Vomiting (rare)

  • Drowsiness

 

KETAMINE should be used with caution in patients with:

  • Raised intracranial pressure

  • Severe systemic hypertension

  • Raised intraocular pressure

  • Recent history of epilepsy

  • Intracranial space occupying lesions

  • Cardiac arrhythmia

  • On long-acting opioid

 

How should I take KETAMINE?
As with any drug, the correct dose for you depends on factors such as weight, gender, metabolism, whether you have taken the drug recently or not, amongst many other factors.

Products that may interact with KETAMINE include:

  • Rifampin - a tuberculosis drug that decreases KETAMINE

  • St John’s Wort - a popular supplement for a variety of conditions which decreases KETAMINE

  • Ketoconazole - an antifungal drug that increases KETAMINE

  • Cimetidine (Tagamet) - an acid reducer for heartburn and peptic ulcers that theoretically increase KETAMINE

 

Dangers of Mixing KETAMINE and Alcohol:
There is a litany of potential long-term effects due to the combination of these drugs, such as serious liver disease (increased potential to develop cancer, alcoholic hepatitis, or even cirrhosis); cardiovascular effects (increased potential for heart attack or stroke); increased potential for issues with the kidneys, decreased functioning of the immune system. KETAMINE may impair your thinking or reactions for several hours. Avoid driving or operating machinery for at least 24 hours after you receive KETAMINE.
